DAY 1 : Arrival in Lyon
at Lyon St Exupéry airport, welcome by your driver and transfer to the hotel.
DAY 2 : Discovery of Lyon, UNESCO city.
Departure for the city centre by coach, meet your guide for the panoramic tour of Lyon. The historical site of Lyon has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since December 1998. Lunch in a Lyon typical bouchon restaurant. In the afternoon, guided walking tour of the Old Town of Lyon, the medieval and Renaissance district of the city&ending up on the Lyon Presqu’île.
DAY 3: Lyon, Gastronomy & Confluence.
Departure by coach to the Halles Paul Bocuse. Your guide will explain everything about this mythical place! The Halles are named after the famous chef from Lyon, a reference in French and international gastronomy. You can find all sorts of shops for cooking: bakers, caterers, butchers and fishmongers selling fresh, high-quality products. Embark on a boat to discover Lyon, its history, its buildings, its architecture, on the Saône river for a 1 hour stroll. Lunch in a famous Lyon brasserie. Entrance for the guided tour of the Natural History Museum. Then, free discovery of the Confluence, the modern district of Lyon.
DAY 4: The silk of Croix Rousse and the Royal Monastery of Brou.
Departure by coach for the Croix Rousse district. Guided tour of the area, a real village in the city. Then, guided tour of the Maison des Canuts: discovery of the technical, social and creative influence of Lyon’s silk industry for five centuries. Lunch in a local restaurant. Then departure for the neighbour region of Ain. Discovery of the royal monastery of Brou in Bourg-en-Bresse and the church of Saint-Nicolas de Tolentin with a member of the monastery.
DAY 5: The Rhone Valley.
Departure by coach to Tain l’Hermitage. Located on the banks of the Rhône, facing the vineyards and the small town of Tournon-sur-Rhône. Entrance to the historic site of the Chocolate factory Valrhona and guided tour of the Cité du Chocolat, which reveals what goes on behind the scenes of the Great Chocolate. Lunch in a local restaurant. The tour continues with a tasting of this beautiful appellation at a local estate.
DAY 6: The Beaujolais wine region.
Departure by coach to the Beaujolais with your guide. Arrival at the Wine Museum, the Hameau Duboeuf. Enter and visit of the place. In the afternoon, departure on the pretty roads, walking through the villages of the main Beaujolais crus.
DAY 7 : Auvergne Region.
Departure by coach to the Auvergne region and Clermont-Ferrand. Visit of the Aventure Michelin Museum: on the site of Cataroux, in a former spinning workshop of 2,100 m² whose turn-of-the-century architecture has been preserved, the Aventure Michelin can be visited on two levels. Lunch in a local restaurant. Depart to the Lemptegy Volcano and access the site on board a little train.
DAY 8 : Return home.
