One of the most beautiful bay in the world, the bay of Somme is an outstanding natural site where sky and sea are said to blend together. Thousands of migratory birds find shelter there. The French largest seal colony have elected to live in these tremendous landscapes. Regional Nature Park, Sea Nature Park, Grand Site de France are few of the certification labels that protect the playground of this stay. On foot, by bike, in canoe or on a heritage railway, you will come across astonishing, captivating and ever-changing landscapes.

Day 1 : First impressions

Wander by yourself in this cosy port village with it’s walled town. Check-in at the hotel. Dinner. Free evening and overnight.

Day 2 : First steps into the Bay

Breakfast. Be ready for the legendary Bay of Somme crossing ! A licensed Qualinat guide will lead you through this experience. You will figure out how its wonderful landscapes make it one of the world most beautiful bay. Furthermore, you will better understand its economical, environmental and traditional aspects. With feet into some silt or on salt meadows, you will truly enjoy its fauna and flora. Once ashore in Le Crotoy, enjoy your free time for lunch ambling around the charming harbour with its shops and the only south facing beach on the French north coastline. Way back to Saint­Valéry on a historical railway (steam or diesel powered train or rail-car depending on the date). The journey will give you another outlook to the bay. Dinner. Free evening and overnight.

Day 3 : Pirogue and bicycle

Breakfast. With a licensed Qualinat guide, board on a slender canoe to immerse yourself in the bay and encounter its wildlife. It may be the opportunity to spot some seals ! Free time for lunch at Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme. Then enjoy a cycling seaside tour by yourself(13 or 28 km on a loop). You will come across sand dunes, shingle beaches. The Hâble d’Ault and the low-fields of Cayeux-sur-Mer are part of the ride, as well. Way back to the hotel. Dinner. Free evening and overnight.

Day 4 : The Parc du Marquenterre’s birds

Breakfast. Meeting at the Parc du Marquenterre. Self-guided tour of this bird sanctuary where more than 120 kinds of birds nest. Some food services are available there. Departure. End of our services.
